Cub Scout end of the year party

This summer we have three events. We planned three events so the boys can receive the Summer Activity Pin. Today was the first event. One down two to go! We will go to the Suns Baseball Game for our second event. The third event will be a pizza pool party. Today we went to Spring Park in Green Cove Springs. We had a great lunch and after lunch the boys went swimming in a spring fed pool. The pool rules are.... before they could swim, all the boys had to take a swimming test to see if they could go into the deep end. They have to get to the end of this 50 ft. pool with no problems. The deep end is 6 ft. If they cannot make it they have to stay at the shallow end. The Cisco Kid could swim like a fish. He got to the other side with no problems.
Since most of my den boys were here, I wanted them to start working on their Aquatics pin.  The Chief is showing them how to do some swimming strokes.
This is the Cisco Kid swimming the back stroke.
Now they had to know how to rescue a drowning person.  We used a lifeguard flotation device.  They had to swim out to the person in distress with the flotation device under their arms.  Then they had to make sure the distressed person was facing them so they could put it under their arms so they could swim the distressed person back in.

It was a fun day at the park.

Class end of the year Party

Today the class had nothing but fun. The teacher handed out funny/cute awards followed by an ice cream party.

The Cisco Kid received the honorable Marble Award because he was so marvelous.
He came home with his class t-shirt full of signatures.   The Cisco Kid had the front for just the teachers signatures. The back was designated for his classmates.

Another year gone!!!!

FCAT grades are in

The Cisco Kid is one of those children that think he knows everything. If he is shown something once, he thinks there is nothing more he could learn. I constantly tell him that if he thinks he knows everything he will stop learning. This mentality of his showed up at the beginning of the school year and the teacher picked up on it right away. She knew this was going to be a problem with his work. He was starting to get in the habit of rushing through his work and making mistakes. We all knew he was totally capable of achieving high grades. With that said, I derived this plan and totally bribed him into doing what was best for him. I told him if he gets threes on his FCAT test he will have to go to summer school. If he received fours on his FCAT test he could chose three of anything he wants as a gift. If he received fives on his FCAT test he could have a shopping spree at Toys "R" us. When the Chief heard about the shopping spree his jaw dropped and said, if he get fives there will be no stopping him. We will be in trouble. I guess we are lucky he did not get fives. He did get fours and this little boy is reaping in rewards.

We spent about an hour in Toys "R" us. He picked out a Lego Clock Radio and an electric Razor scooter. His third gift was something he has been wanting for months and I refused to get for him, Converse high top sneakers.
They got back from riding around the neighborhood and the Chief was out of breath. The Razor goes 15 MPH and the Chief had a hard time keeping up on his bike. That is the kind of exercise the doctor ordered for the Chief. I guess it is my turn.
