Summer Camps

Summer Camps are so inspirational. This camp is Called Beat Pack. This is the second year The Cisco Kid has gone to it.  He loves it so much that he has already asked to go back next year.
It is structured around a specific theme. This year it was "You have the Magic in me". The main message was everyone has the magic in them. No matter what others say or do, they should always feel like they can accomplish anything they put their mind too. The magic is strongest when they are confident in themselves and overcome any obstacles they come across. The theme is a great one but what they teach these kids in nine days is simply amazing. The Cisco Kid learned some jokes, three songs and at least four dance parts.  He comes out of that camp so happy.

I have a video clip that I will post as soon as the Chief downloads it for me.

Grandparents came to town

This past weekend Grandma and Grandpa came into town for a visit.  There was some good bonding moments between Grandma and The Cisco Kid.  They both love to play games so they sat on the floor and entertained each other.
Now that The Cisco Kid is asleep we can all rest and have some adult time.
As usual it was a great visit.  We can't wait until next time.

Testing for Karate

The Cisco Kid has been working so hard to get his orange belt in Karate. With every belt advancement there is a list of moves he needs to know. What I like about this program the best is that it is not only about the Karate moves it is about behavior, attitude, self discipline and maturity. They look for all these attributes in every class. So he as advanced from white to yellow, then from yellow to yellow with a black stripe, then yellow with a black stripe to orange. He has done this all in twelve months.
Today was his test. These are some of his moves.

Backword fall
Forward roll
The Cisco Kids favorite part. Breaking of the board. This is his test kick.

Perfect break!

Cub Scout end of the year party

This summer we have three events. We planned three events so the boys can receive the Summer Activity Pin. Today was the first event. One down two to go! We will go to the Suns Baseball Game for our second event. The third event will be a pizza pool party. Today we went to Spring Park in Green Cove Springs. We had a great lunch and after lunch the boys went swimming in a spring fed pool. The pool rules are.... before they could swim, all the boys had to take a swimming test to see if they could go into the deep end. They have to get to the end of this 50 ft. pool with no problems. The deep end is 6 ft. If they cannot make it they have to stay at the shallow end. The Cisco Kid could swim like a fish. He got to the other side with no problems.
Since most of my den boys were here, I wanted them to start working on their Aquatics pin.  The Chief is showing them how to do some swimming strokes.
This is the Cisco Kid swimming the back stroke.
Now they had to know how to rescue a drowning person.  We used a lifeguard flotation device.  They had to swim out to the person in distress with the flotation device under their arms.  Then they had to make sure the distressed person was facing them so they could put it under their arms so they could swim the distressed person back in.

It was a fun day at the park.

Class end of the year Party

Today the class had nothing but fun. The teacher handed out funny/cute awards followed by an ice cream party.

The Cisco Kid received the honorable Marble Award because he was so marvelous.
He came home with his class t-shirt full of signatures.   The Cisco Kid had the front for just the teachers signatures. The back was designated for his classmates.

Another year gone!!!!
