We are very excited that school is starting.

I'm not sure who is more excited, me or The Cisco Kid.

This morning we had orientation at school.  We found out who his teacher is and where his new class room will be.  The Cisco Kid is very excited that he has a man teacher this year. His new teacher seemed very nice and ready to teach.  It was very exciting to the Cisco Kid when he walked into his new class and it was all about baseball.  Everything in the class has a baseball theme.

All of Mr. M's baseball memorabilia.
The Cisco Kid loves the Mad Scientist center.  I can't wait to see what Mr. M has in store for the class.

Monday is the first full day of school.
Have a great weekend.

I re-purposed a coffee table.

It is fun to re-purpose something old into something usable. My project went from this ....
To, this...

This coffee table is very out dated and has a terrible green coat of paint on it. I decided that this table would look better as a bench instead of a table.
I had some old fence posts that I cut down to the right size and used them for the back of the bench.
I laid the fence pieces down on the ground in a couple of different patterns to see how they looked. I liked the overlapping pattern the best. Once I decided what pattern I wanted, I braced them all together with wood and screws. I had some leftover pieces of wood that I used for the decorative sides. I used a jig saw to cut out the curves.

I had to cut a small amount of wood off one side of the table so the fence would sit flush against a large part of the wood. This is to give the back stability. I then screwed everything together and painted it.
I put two coats of paint on it.
For a finishing touch I made the cushion.  A four foot cushions usually costs about $50.00 and up. I made this cushion for 11.00. The material I used to cover the cushion is a shower curtain. I found it for 5.00. I thought the pattern would match well with the whole look. If anyone has every made pillows before, knows that stuffing is very expensive. I was not going to pay $25.00 for stuffing this cushion. I went to Big Lots and got two of their pillows for $3.00 each and used them to stuff the cushion.
I had this brass bow in my junk drawer forever.
It finally came in handy.

The table cost me $7.00, the cushion cost me $11.00 and I used about $2.00 in paint. So this bench cost a total of $20.00 to make.

The last few days of summer

We went to the Avenues Mall to do our last bit of shopping for school. After we got everything we needed we could not pass up getting a pretzel at our favorite pretzel shop. Auntie Anne’s Pretzels are the best. I am addicted to their plain salt with extra salt. The Cisco Kid loves the cinnamon pretzels. The Chief loves the pretzel dog. Right next to the Auntie Anne’s Pretzel stand there was a gentleman making balloon animals. These were the most elaborate balloon animals I have ever seen in my life. He was going on a mission trip and he was making them for donations. We stood there and watched some of his creations and The Cisco Kid was so excited to get a horse balloon.
He is working on the horse for The Cisco Kid.
He didn't stop at just making him the best horse I have ever seen but he continued to make the cowboy to sit on the horse.
The Cisco Kid hates to shop for clothes.  This made his day!!!
Amazing!!!

Keeping up with the Cub Scouts

Cub scouts is an all year activity. Even though we had our last major activity in May we still make sure we keep the boys together during the summer. We had a great pool party at one of our committee member’s community pool. Some of the boys didn’t have their swimming belt loop. This was a great opportunity for them to fulfill the requirement to earn it. We couldn’t have a pool party without food. We had a great selection of fruit, chips, drinks, and Pizza.

We are selling some t-shirt to anyone who needs one.
It was a hot day, and fresh fruit was so refreshing.
The boys love their belt loops.  The head cub master went through all the requirements so the boys can get their belt loops at the first Pack meeting.
Fun with friends!
My little fish!
We are looking forward to September when we could start Cub Scouts in full swing.  The Cisco Kid is now working towards his Wolf requirements.  I am going to be the den mom again and I have many fun activities to surprise the boys with.
