Preperation of the Class Halloween party

Tori and I are room moms and we are having a Halloween party for the class. Some of the things we are going to do are. Each child is going to decorate their own pumpkin cookie with icing and a variety of candy.

We are also going to have them make their own pumpkin pom poms with orange and green yarn.
For the final activity we are going to wrap each child like a mummy. We are going to use toilet paper.

I have made some bats for decoration.

I put all the candy in individual baggies and each child will receive a bag of candy with a cookie to decorate.

The Pumpkin Cookies are a very simple sugar cookie with yellow and red food coloring to make orange dough.

2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup butter, softened
1 1/2 cups white sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees . In a small bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, and baking powder. Set aside.
In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in egg and vanilla. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients. Roll rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into balls, and place onto ungreased cookie sheets.
Bake 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until golden. Let stand on cookie sheet two minutes before removing to cool on wire racks.

I made about 15 of these bats that I will hang around the class.

Thank you everyone for participating in "What would your children say?" Wednesday.

  1. These are great ideas! I haven't had a chance to read your blog until today because I was so busy yesterday doing our classroom party too! I haven't blogged it yet but I probably will. Great idea to sort the candy out so everyone isn't touching it. The cookies look wonderful. Very cute mummy you have there!
